You are a Christian because somebody cared. Now it’s your turn.

Isaiah 42:6-9
“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;    I will take you by the hand and keep you;I will give you as a covenant for the people,     a light for the nations,to open the eyes that are blind,to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,     from the prison those who sit in darkness.I am the Lord; that is my name;     my glory I give to no other,    nor my praise to carved idols.Behold, the former things have come to pass,     and new things I now declare;before they spring forth    I tell you of them.”

I wonder if this was actually a reality for people, Christians, these days. I wonder what our world would look like if people showed a deep care for others that went beyond their personal comforts. Caring is different for everyone, but also defined by the same limitations. I challenge you to express love for others in an intentionally caring way. It can start with telling someone you’re thankful for them. It can start with giving someone a ride. It can start with getting coffee with your neighbor, whom you haven’t seemed to notice lately. If you’re sitting here questioning the actions of others, in any regard, the underlying puzzle piece of “care” plays a role in one way or another. What do we have to lose in showing others we care about them? A nicer, more genuine, loving community & world? Sounds nice to me.

Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
